Overall team / department purpose
- The Business Intelligence & Strategic Insight Team is responsible for delivering the business intelligence strategies, providing high quality business intelligence solutions that drives operational and executive decision making across the business.
Key role priorities
- This role is responsible for the delivery of our business’ Data Quality strategy, co-ordination of performance reporting at an assurance level, and the co-ordination and submission of relevant regulatory returns.
- The holder is required to provide support to Data Owners and Stewards across our business; ensuring accurate, reliable, and clearly defined information and insight to support decision making and monitor performance.
Key working relationships
- The role holder is required to liaise with colleagues across the team, Directorate and business more generally to ensure the provision of the most insightful information to meet requirements.
- Interaction with external groups/parties is required from time to time to ensure the provision of the most insightful information to meet requirements and to link in with external projects.
Main duties & responsibilities
- Support the Senior Analyst – Data Intelligence in improving the maturity of Data Quality for our business.
- Provide credible support, partnering with other functions across our business to deliver accurate and robust performance information.
- Work with data and system owners to ensure continual improvement of data consistency and quality.
- Maintain and develop Data Dictionaries and Glossaries to key data entities.
- Support the Data Governance Forum, preparing papers and recording actions.
- Measure and improve data accuracy, reconcile BI reports and ensure consistency.
- Co-ordinate and submit non-financial regulatory returns as required.
- Co-ordinate, submit and develop internal usage of benchmarking as required.
- Horizon scan and identify relevant external factors for our business and supporting datasets as appropriate.
- Clearly communicate insight through papers and presentations as required.
- Support the Business Intelligence function in gathering requirements and driving change.
- Complete any other tasks as commensurate with the level and nature of the post as delegated by the role’s line manager.

Education & Qualifications
Educated to degree level (E)
Professional qualification in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related IT Science or Statistical subject (D)
Experience
Demonstrable experience of working in a Data Quality role with hands-on experience of data profiling and cleansing initiatives (E)
Experience of working in a regulated industry and hands-on experience of supporting the delivery of regulatory returns (E)
Skills, knowledge & ability
Practical experience of deploying formal data quality processes (E)
Proficient in SQL (E)
High levels of competency in MS Excel, PowerPoint or equivalent tools for the preparation and communication of data (E)
Able to deliver actionable, impactful insights from raw data and recommendations that are easily understood (E)
Effective communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt personal styles appropriately (E)
Ability to work in a collaborative manner, including joint working with internal/external organisations to achieve positive outcomes for customers (E)
